That said, the pets do look super-cute to me, and I'm hoping EA can turn things around a bit.
EA already lost me with the stupid Fitness Pack, and this lame offering isn't tempting me to go back to buying each pack (don't worrry - Studio will update for it anyway).
Yet, in this pack, for example, the playing in a container full of balls things was already done by a modder, as were slides in several sizes, and a trampoline (all by Necrodog HERE). I expect them to add comprehensive stuff that would be impossible for modders to do. When I look at the pack, it just seems like EA is out of ideas and energy. Instead, we're still stuck at home surrounded by the same old Sim family just as we were before Toddlers came out (Sims 4 is sort of like a take on the 1950's crossed with Twilight Zone - your Sim can never escape the house/family). That's a big difference from adding new ways for Sims to interact with each other in new places. It just has a couple new objects for toddlers to interact with. This latest pack (Toddlers) seems similar. They interact with an object (the bowling lane), and that's about it. But when your Sims get there, they don't interact with each other in a new way. This was supposed to provide a new place to go and a new thing (one thing but at least something new) to do. Sims 4 just isn't keeping up with the bar that was set by previous games.
Packs like World Adventures (Sims 3) and University (Sims 2). Packs that offer new places to go, new things to do, new ways for Sims to interact with each other, and clothes/objects that go along with the theme of the new pack. As in, people want some game-changing expansion packs like we used to see in previous Sims games and they're will to wait longer between packs if the packs are actually interesting. They seem willing to sacrifice frequency for depth. Players seem tired of frequent tiny packs that add almost nothing to gameplay but a single new object or two with special interactions. Not just in the packs offered, but in the scope of the material in each pack. I agree that EA seems to have been pretty tone deaf to what players want this time around.
